Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Darius Slay is yet to suit up for his new organization, yet he is already making a considerable impact across the rest of the league. That impact — mentoring young cornerbacks on the nuance of the position — is sure to make it even more difficult to throw against both Slay and the youngsters who are soaking up his advice.

Both Houston Texans cornerback Lonnie Johnson Jr. and Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting are in agreement that Slay has gone out of his way to help them develop their respective games.

Slay even took to Twitter to let people know that he was more than happy to pass down the knowledge that he has learned.

Slay has become one of the premier corners in the NFL over the past three seasons, all of which have resulted in him having been named to the Pro Bowl. Despite having amassed at least 40 tackles, 13 passes defended and two interceptions in each of the past six seasons, the Lions dealt Slay to Philadelphia this off-season, where he promptly inked a new three-year, $50 million contract which pocketed him a guaranteed $30 million.

Slay's acquisition adds a formidable element to the Eagles' defensive unit, as the veteran is expected to join a defense headlined by Fletcher Cox and Brandon Graham.

Just how much in-person development that Slay gets to produce alongside his teammates remains to be seen due to the Covid-19 pandemic, which has kept many players from working out with one another. Currently, the Eagles are slotted to open the 2020 regular season on the road against Washington on Sept. 13.
