Philadelphia Eagles running back Darren Sproles has had all kinds of issues with injuries the last few years, but he looks to be finally healthy and played a big role in his team's Thursday night victory over the Washington Redskins.

Sproles missed most of last year and injured his hamstring in the first game of this season and suffered a setback before finally being cleared. He scored his first touchdown since December of 2016 and he admitted after the game he had to try and control his emotions because he was so excited to be back on the field.

“I don’t know, man,” Sproles said via Pro Football Talk. “It just felt so good, man, just to get in there. To have a knee [injury] last year, then have a hamstring this year, it just felt great. It felt great to get in there.”

After the game, his teammates all had nothing but praise for him, including tight end Zach Ertz, who gave his thoughts to nj.com.

“I’m so happy for Darren. He’s been through the gamut the past 11 weeks trying to get right. I’m proud of all the work he’s put in to this point. He could have easily called it quits and said, ‘Man, maybe this just isn’t for me anymore,’ but he really stuck to the process and found a way to get healthy. We need him. He’s a dynamic player and he’s really helpful for our football team.”

This isn't just a feel-good story though, as he is going to be a key part of things if the Eagles are going to make it back to the playoffs.
