The Philadelphia Eagles started out this past season with a lit of defensive issues. Opposing quarterbacks were having huge games against their defense, and the pressure went on Carson Wentz to carry the team. The Eagles were doomed to be out of playoff contention until they picked up defensive back Cre'Von LeBlanc.

The Eagles organization decided to take a chance on the nickelback after he was cut from the Detroit Lions in December of last year. The former Chicago Bears player had experience playing as a third-down corner, something the Eagles sorely lacked and were hurt by on a weekly basis.

His addition to the team has completely turned around the season for the Eagles. He seemed to bring life back to their defense, jumpstarting their late-season playoff run.

Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz has spoken highly of LeBlanc, per Mike Kaye of NJ.com.

“It doesn’t take long to be around that guy to know that he’s competitive and he’s tough. He needed to get up to speed quickly, but he was up for the task. He’s played some outside corner for us, too. I don’t know that we win that Giants game if he can’t step in and play outside corner, which was a position that he had hardly ever played and he had not practiced for us. But competitiveness and toughness go a long way, and he brings both of those.”

The Eagles went 9-7 on the season and snuck into the wild card round of the playoffs. They beat the Chicago Bears in a low-scoring affair of 16-15. They will face off next against the Kansas City Chiefs.
