Promising Philadelphia Eagles rookie DeVonta Smith did not waste time showing his quality on the field. In the first quarter of his first game in the NFL, Smith caught a beautiful 25-yard pass from quarterback Jalen Hurts right in the end zone, giving the Eagles an early advantage over the Atlanta Falcons. It was a great pass, but also an amazing catch by the 10th overall pick, who is simply beaming with potential.

You love to see it:

According to ESPN, the first-year player is only the third Eagles wide receiver to record a touchdown in their first game since 1970. He joins Cris Carter and Marvin Hargrove in that regard. It is really impressive to be in that crowd, and Smith should take this as inspiration to keep working hard and bring some optimism into the Lincoln Financial Field stands.

Both the Eagles and Falcons are looking to improve after they struggled in 2020, with the Falcons going 4-12 and the Eagles notching a 4-11-1 mark last year. Should Smith and Hurts keep connecting on these passes, the Eagles faithful should not be concerned one bit. Smith won the Heisman last year with the Alabama Crimson Tide, and he's already making his presence felt in the big leagues.
