Once Super Bowl hopefuls, the Philadelphia Eagles are now fighting to get themselves in the playoffs. At 5-7, coming off a loss to the Miami Dolphins, the Birds have a lot of work to do to get to the postseason.

The Eagles' work starts with defeating the 2-10 New York Giants on “Monday Night Football.” Head coach Doug Pederson calls it a must-win situation.

“[W]e’re in a must-win situation,” coach Doug Pederson told reporters on Thursday, via Pro Football Talk. “We know that. It really started last week and really coming out of the bye if you want to think about it going back a few weeks.”

Philadelphia has been on a slump since their bye week, losing to the New England Patriots, Seattle Seahawks, and Dolphins. Naturally, the skid has put their Super Bowl hopes on hold. If the Eagles were to lose a game, they could kiss their playoff hopes goodbye.

The Eagles will also be paying to the Dallas Cowboys' bout with the Chicago Bears on “Thursday Night Football,” as they are in the lead of the division at 6-6.

Pederson knows he has to stay on the course.

“For me, I have to stay the course,” Pederson said. “I have to stay transparent and have to stay as honest as I can with the team. The integrity, talk about the character of the team and all that with them and say, ‘Listen, guys, we’re in that must-win situation right now.’ . . . Everybody is on board, everybody on the same page. That’s the one thing that I appreciate about these guys.”

The Eagles must get going on Monday. A 5-8 record won't get them anywhere, upset closer to the top-10 in the 2020 NFL Draft.
