Most scrutiny related to the Philadelphia Eagles struggles over the first three games of the regular season concerns offense, but that's not entirely fair. The Eagles have hardly been as explosive as many anticipated coming into a season in which Carson Wentz is healthy and they brought back DeSean Jackson, but still rank 10th in points per game and 13th in total yardage. Philadelphia's play on that side of the ball has underwhelmed relative expectations, but has still been good enough to win.

Defense is a bigger problem for the Eagles, and the labors of their best defender is one of the biggest reasons why. After star defensive lineman Fletcher Cox failed to record a single stat in Sunday's 27-24 loss to the Detroit Lions, though, coach Doug Pederson insisted he wasn't worried about Fletcher's lack of impact to start the season.

“I think Fletcher, he's coming [along] and I'm not concerned with him at all,” Pederson said, per Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia. “I'm excited actually of where he's at health-wise and how he's practicing and things like that. He's obviously a top defender, top player for us, and I think his best ball's ahead of him.”

Cox didn't participate in any of the Eagles' offseason or preseason activities while recovering from surgery for a broken toe he suffered in last year's playoffs against the New Orleans Saints. A four-time Pro Bowler, he has three tackles, one tackle for loss, zero sacks, and three quarterback hits as Philadelphia has gotten out to a disappointing 1-2 start.
