It’s official this time: Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Frank Reich has indeed taken the job to become the next Indianapolis Colts head coach. In light of Reich moving on to Indy, Eagles head coach Doug Pederson released a statement praising his former assistant and wishing him well on his new job.

Per Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer:

“Frank is a tremendous coach and very deserving of this opportunity. He was a valuable member of our staff and we have all benefited from working with him over the last two years. As good as he is as a leader and (teacher), he’s an even better person. We could not be more excited for him as he takes this next step in his career and we wish him and his family all the best.”

Reich spent two seasons as the offensive coordinator of the Eagles. While Pederson was still the offensive play-caller, Reich nevertheless had a big role in helping Pederson throughout Philly's terrific season which culminated in their Super Bowl LII win.

In the wake of the whole Josh McDaniels debacle in Indianapolis, Reich will now get the opportunity to return to the Colts – he spent his four for years as an NFL coach with the franchise – and become a head coach for the first time in his career.

As for Pederson and the Eagles, they have some rebuilding to do on the offensive side of their coaching staff. Prior to Reich departing, quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo had also left to take on the Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator job.
