While Nick Foles is trying to lead the Philadelphia Eagles to a playoff berth, coach Doug Pederson is still thinking about Carson Wentz who has been sidelined because of his back injury. As Foles received all the praise last year for leading the Eagles to the Super Bowl, Wentz had to wonder what it would have been like with him out there. This year it appears that Foles could do the same thing, and Pederson said it's very hard for Wentz.

“Oh, yeah. It's tough. I mean, it's tough,” Pederson said via 24/7 Sports. “Listen, he's such a competitor and he's won a bunch of games for us here and he will continue to win a bunch of games for us.

“The thing is with Carson, as much as a competitor, he's so giving of himself. You saw him in the game last night, how engaging he was with myself. He was engaging with Nick and very supportive that way, as tough as it is and that's a credit to him.”

Wentz is dealing with a spinal compression fracture and although there is a chance he could play, the Eagles are doing the right thing holding him out. Foles is a very good backup, one of the best in the leagues and Wentz is still the future so they can't afford him to get hurt worse.

Wentz is technically listed as week-to-week but it's already been announced that Foles will start in Week 16, and it would be shocking if Foles didn't start week 17 too.
