Philadelphia has a long, colorful history of misbehaving fans. Last Sunday, one drunken Philadelphia Eagles supporter added to its lore by socking a police horse in the face. In the City of Brotherly Love, putting one’s fist on any mammal’s face is illegal, so it's not much of surprise to know that the fan was arrested afterward, per Tom Schad of USA Today.

Taylor Hendricks, a 22-year-old from Whitehall, Penn., was ejected from Saturday's game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Atlanta Falcons because he was intoxicated and did not have a ticket, according to Philadelphia police. Following his ejection, police said, he approached a mounted officer and “began punching the horse in the face, neck and shoulder area.

Hendricks could not have it any worse, but he had it coming. If anything, he could consider himself a little lucky because the horse did not try to retaliate. Imagine getting kicked in the gut by a horse, arrested by authorities, and having a scheduled court appearance to worry about.

According to online Philadelphia Municipal Court records, Hendricks was charged with aggravated assault, taunting a police animal, simple assault and defiant trespassing. He is due to appear in court Jan. 30.

After defeating the Atlanta Falcons at home in the Divisional Round, the Eagles will take on Minnesota Vikings this coming Sunday for a chance to earn a spot in the Super Bowl.

As for Hendricks, the horse-slugging Philly fan will have to deal with the night-mare of dealing with the legal system.
