Competition for reps at wide receiver for the Philadelphia Eagles has taken a step up since the 2020 NFL Draft. After running out a ragtag group toward the end of last year, general manager Howie Roseman brought in some explosive new options for franchise quarterback Carson Wentz, going on to make clear that its open season when it comes to playing time.

All of the moves “lets competition dictate what's best for our football team,” said Roseman, via Daniel Gallen of Penn Live.

The first big move of the weekend for the Eagles was the selection of TCU wide receiver Jalen Reagor with the 21nd overall selection. Having amassed 22 touchdowns in his three collegiate seasons, Reagor immediately gives Wentz another deep ball threat that should step right into the fold.

But Reagor wasn't the only name brought aboard; a trade for former San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Marquise Goodwin and the selections of Boise State's John Hightower and Southern Miss' Quez Watkins tied a knot around a busy weekend for the Eagles.

Of course, the Eagles also made a splash by selecting Oklahoma quarterback Jalen Hurts in the second round. While Wentz is still entrenched as the team's starter, Hurts likely brings another element to the offense, which could go as far as seeing him move around the field.

Add all the new faces to a core of Alshon Jeffery, DeSean Jackson, Greg Ward and JJ Arcega-Whiteside and the Eagles are hoping that even if injuries do strike, they will be nowhere near as thin at wideout as they were last year.
