Former Alabama Crimson Tide and Oklahoma Sooners quarterback Jalen Hurts came off the board a bit earlier than many expected over the weekend, as the former collegiate standout is now officially a member of the Philadelphia Eagles. Eagles general manager Howie Roseman ultimately selected Hurts in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft despite already having starting quarterback Carson Wentz under center.

Obviously the Eagles plan to utilize Hurts' entire athletic skill set which means it's possible the Philadelphia newcomer will be used all over the field and in a variety of different offensive packages. However, the aforementioned Roseman didn't budge when asked about how his team would use Hurts now that he is in Philadelphia for the forseeable future. Roseman said of Hurts (via Pro Football Talk):

“That is a better question for Coach Pederson … I’m not trying to duck it, but I also don’t feel like that is my dojo.”

Of course, Roseman was forced to make a tough decision with Wentz still slated to serve as the Eagles starting quarterback. Even so, the veteran front office executive decided to pull the trigger in the second round anyway. The general manager spoke about Wentz as well:

“I love Carson Wentz, man … I love Carson Wentz, and I love going to bed at night putting my bed on the pillow knowing that we have a strong quarterback room. That, to me, makes me sleep better.”

The Eagles won the very weak NFC East division last season. It appears that Philadelphia will once again attempt to battle it out against the rival Dallas Cowboys with both the New York Giants and Washington Redskins still slowly rebuilding.
