Jalen Hurts is no stranger to being in the spotlight. The Philadelphia Eagles quarterback has been dealing with people making various comments about him publicly and privately. He's basically heard it all, from the people praising him to the detractors criticizing him.

If it were up to Hurts, he'd prefer not to hear all of those comments. Even the good ones. In a recent interview, the young Eagles QB talked about the “rat poison” people say about him that he chooses to ignore.

“I’ve seen the good, I’ve seen the bad. I’ve really learned how to block it all out. I couldn’t really care less about what’s being said out there. It makes no difference in how I prepare. It makes no difference in the ultimate goal in what it is for us and for me… Rat poison, to me, is something I don’t want to hear. I don’t want to hear the good, I don’t want to hear the bad. I control what I can and keep the main thing… I worry about my standards.”

It may be surprising for some that Jalen Hurts would call all of the comments about him “rat poison”, including the ones praising him. However, it may be a way for the Eagles quarterback to keep himself grounded. Some players might hear the praise people give them and use that as a reason to slack off. For Hurts, though, he wants to keep himself focused on his goals for the Eagles. That means tuning out all the noise, including the compliments.

In the past few weeks, Jalen Hurts and the Eagles have made significant strides, dominating the New Orleans Saints in their last match. While the young QB still has his rookie moments, it's clear he's slowly but surely getting into the groove of starting at quarterback in the NFL.
