Jalen Hurts came up with a big performance for the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night as they took down Washington Football Team, 27-17, in their highly-anticipated Week 15 matchup. Hurts' evening did not come without incident, though, and at one point, the Eagles quarterback was on the receiving end of a rather feisty message from coach Nick Sirianni.

After committing his second turnover of the contest, Hurts received an earful from coach Sirianni as the Eagles star made his way to the bench. Sirianni was clearly incensed with Hurts' play at that point so the 40-year-old coach made sure to let his star know:

After the game, Sirianni opened up about his one-way shouting match with Hurts during the game. According to the Eagles shot-caller, this was nothing more than an ordinary occurrence between them (h/t Eagles on Twitter):

“Jalen and I are used to it,” Sirianni said. “Jalen's dad coached him hard. My dad coached me hard. So I think Jalen responds to tough coaching. He likes tough coaching. I wasn't gonna back down on him. I thought he was careless with the football and I let him know that. And we're just honest with each other. So sometimes it comes off as that we're just talking through it. Sometimes I gotta deliver the message a little bit different.”

It looks like Sirianni was able to light a fire under his star quarterback. Hurts finished the game with 20-of-26 passes completed for 296 yards and one touchdown. The 23-year-old also added eight carries for 38 yards to go along with an additional two rushing touchdowns.

Sirianni then praised Hurts' overall performance saying that this was one of the best games he'd seen from the former Oklahoma standout:

“What a great job by him having that mentality,” Sirianni continued. “… He played a great football game today. One of the best football games I've seen him play. What an unbelievable job by him of what he would say, ‘Flush it. Don't look at it. Flush it. And then move on.' So awesome job by him.”

As much as he criticized Hurts to his face during the game for his errors, Sirianni was quick to praise his quarterback in front of the media. The Eagles head coach then circled back to his relationship with Hurts and how this has helped them succeed on the football field:

“When you have a good relationship with your quarterback, you're able to have those tough conversations like that. We moved on and we played a great game,” Sirianni said.

That's now back-to-back wins for Hurts and the Eagles who are now one game ahead of Washington Football Team in the NFC East. Philly has three more regular-season games ahead, starting with a crucial Week 16 matchup against the New York Giants on Sunday.
