The Philadelphia Eagles put a complete beatdown on the New York Giants. They scored 31 second-half points while forbidding the Giants to score a touchdown until it was garbage time and won 34-10. One of those touchdowns in the second half was a momentous occasion.

Lane Johnson, the three-time All-Pro offensive tackle, caught a five-yard touchdown pass from Jalen Hurts. It was his first-ever catch and first-ever score. He celebrated with Eagles fans after extending the lead in the fourth quarter.

Johnson missed three games to focus on his battles with depression and anxiety. Fortunately, he felt comfortable enough to return to the game in October and scored his first professional touchdown in a much-needed December win.

The Eagles improved to 8-7 and helped eliminate their division rival from the postseason, though they did lose Miles Sanders mid-game due to a hand injury. Hurts threw for 199 yards and two touchdowns while the Eagles' defense allowed just 192 total yards of offense.

With the win over the lowly Giants, the Eagles made progress in the packed race for the NFC Wild Card spots. They will likely have to win out in order to secure a postseason bid, and they took their first (and easiest) step towards that goal.

Johnson will go down as a Philadelphia legend because of his stellar talent and for initiating the wearing of a dog mask along with Chris Long, which personified the Eagles' Super Bowl run. His touchdown today adds to his legacy.
