The Philadelphia Eagles have been locked in on defending their crown in the 2018 NFL season. Unfortunately, they have had to deal with their first minor inconvenience following the troubling reports concerning running back Jay Ajayi.

Ajayi is reportedly being sued for allegedly vandalizing a mansion in Los Angeles and pushing the homeowner. However, according to Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald, his publicist has denied any accusations:

“Jay was not involved in any physical altercations,” Melanie Wadden, Ajayi’s publicst, told Beasley in an email.

“The entire group voluntarily left the property several days early — no security or police were ever involved or on-site,” Wadden said. “They filed a complaint against the owner through Airbnb back in February that included screenshots of the owner asking for cash and trying to communicate outside of their platform [against Airbnb policy].”

Regardless of the degree to which Ajayi was involved, distractions such as these never sit well with the front office. Philadelphia had made the move during the 2017 NFL season to acquire him from the Miami Dolphins in exchange for a fourth-round pick.

Although his production was hardly reminiscent of his days in Miami, he played an integral role in the offense throughout the postseason. There was optimism that he could take on an increased role in the upcoming season.

However, the latest incident will likely hinder his chances of maintaining his role for the time being. Fortunately, the Eagles have not expressed any notion about his future with the team being in danger.
