It was quite the 2017 season for Philadelphia Eagles running back Jay Ajayi. Needless to say, there is no love lost for his former head coach with the Miami Dolphins, Adam Gase.

Ajayi was traded midway through the year after a disastrous start for the Dolphins. However, things ultimately worked out for the best, winning Super Bowl LII with his new team.

After the victory, Ajayi managed to throw a bit of shade at Gase with his post on Instagram:

Despite his coded attempt to remain as subtle as possible, it is clear that Ajayi and Gase had their fair share of disagreements during the former's stint in Miami. The English-born back burst onto the scene last year as the Dolphins' new workhorse. He ran wild for 1,272 yards and eight touchdowns in a season that featured three 200-yard rushing performances en route to his first Pro Bowl selection.

However, things changed drastically coming into this year, as Miami's running game largely floundered throughout the season. As a result, Ajayi found himself as the odd man out of the offense before being traded to the Eagles after seven games.

He did not get much more love in Philadelphia at first and wound up finishing the season with 873 yards and just one touchdown. Fortunately, his role increased in the postseason when it mattered most as he largely served as the Eagles' first-down back. He took advantage of his new workload, taking 42 carries for 184 yards in three playoff games. More importantly, he is now a world champion.
