The Philadelphia Eagles are playing good football against one of the best teams in the NFC in the Seattle Seahawks. While their battle to keep themselves in the playoff race is one that takes all of the attention, there’s one more reason why this game is monumental for one Josh McCown.

According to SNF on NBC, McCown made history as he took a snap during the Eagles’ wild card game against the Seattle Seahawks after he took over the injured Carson Wentz. It’s been revealed that he’s one of the few people in the history of the entire league to take his first postseason snap this late in his career.

Quarterbacks usually have longer career longevity compared to other football players as they don’t rely on their athleticism that much. However, the position is one that is easily replaceable. If you cannot prove yourself as a quarterback who can throw a good football, you’ll quickly find yourself without a team to call home.

Given this fact, it’s simply impressive that McCown kept himself relevant enough that he managed to play a game for the Eagles. Moreover, to be able to hang on to an NFL spot when you barely even play a minute of football is a testament to his talent and dedication to keep himself viable to NFL teams.

This season, he’s only made three appearances, completing three passes for 24 yards. However, he may not trade playing time for the opportunity to complete a pass in the playoffs. The opportunity for him to play some playoff football is definitely one that he’ll cherish for the rest of his life.
