Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Josh McCown will continue to coach his high school football team on Friday's and that was part of the deal when he agreed to come back into the NFL.

According to Zack Rosenblatt of NJ.com, McCown will fly back to Charlotte on Friday so he can coach the Meyers Park High School football team that night. After the game is over he will fly back to Philadelphia and rejoin the team.

When thinking about signing with the Eagles he knew he wanted to continue to coach the high school team, and he made that clear to the team.

“The proximity to Charlotte was a factor, and part of why it made sense to sign here,” McCown said.

He flew back to Charlotte last weekend after his first preseason appearance with the Eagles and received a standing ovation from the players he coaches. McCown said he appreciated that, but he wants the players to focus on the task at hand.

“I just wanted them to be focused on the game,” McCown said of his students. “That’s the main thing. But I understand, I guess, the situation. To have someone that’s an active player in the NFL, working with, coaching you, that’s unique.”

When McCown is back in Charlotte he is just a high school coach and isn't afraid to do everything that is asked of him.

“He does everything that a regular high school coach does,” Myers Park coach Scott Chadwick said. “He doesn’t just show up, he does all the dirty work.”

The hope is McCown will be winning games as a high school coach on Friday night and holding the clipboard on Sunday.
