The Philadelphia Eagles defied the odds after star quarterback Carson Wentz went down with a season-ending knee injury last year. The team stayed vigilant as they paved their way to the Super Bowl and upset the Tom Brady's New England Patriots.

One of the leaders of the Eagles unlikely run to their first Super Bowl title in franchise history was right tackle Lane Johnson. Although Philadelphia dealt the fatal blow to New England by pulling off the upset with a backup quarterback Nick Foles under center, Johnson isn't done barking at what he perceives to be an arrogant Patriots franchise. Johnson recently talked about why he's not all that fond of Bill Belichick's team on Steve Austin's podcast, transcription via ESPN.

“Here's what pissed me off,” Johnson said. “The Patriots, obviously, I respect their coach, I respect Bill [Belichick], I respect Tom Brady, but just because the way that they won the Super Bowls, the Patriot Way, is that how everybody else is supposed to do the same thing? No, it's not. And that's what I got mad at, the arrogance by them.

“There was obviously some stuff behind closed doors. Their owner talking s— to our owner. Bill talking s— to our head coach [Doug Pederson] before the game. I'm not going to say it, but a lot of s— kind (of) built up to that, and I just got tired of hearing about it, man, to be honest.”

Johnson's ill will toward the Patriots makes a lot of sense if what he says is true. Also, this hasn't been the first time New England has been accused of this by an opposing team. Terrell Suggs of the Baltimore Ravens had a famous rant about the Patriots while heading to the locker room after knocking out Brady and company in the NFL playoffs back in 2013.

Needless to say, Philadelphia's budding rivalry with New England might be well underway, especially if the two happen to meet again in the Super Bowl next season. The Eagles won't be playing the Patriots in the upcoming regular season, but they'll go head-to-head in the preseason with some potential fireworks in an otherwise meaningless game.
