The Philadelphia Eagles will be without two of their essential pieces to their offense for the remainder of the preseason. Lane Johnson and Dallas Goedert will be held out of the rest of the Eagles' exhibition contests due to injuries per reports.

Aside from the obvious injury to Nate Sudfeld, the Eagles are experiencing other injuries on the offensive front. Fortunately, Carson Wentz is still upright and seems on track to start in Week 1 of the regular season.

For Lane Johnson, the Eagles' starting right tackle is nursing a knee injury that is considered week-to-week. Johnson didn't suit up in Philadelphia's preseason opener against the Tennessee Titans. It was assumed he took the night off like many of the starters but that wasn't exactly the case.

Johnson has been dealing with knee issues for a short period of time and will be shut down until the regular season. All in all, the Eagles can't afford to risk further injury to their star left tackle. Especially when he's had knee concerns throughout his career.

On the other hand, Goedert is tending to a calf injury that will force the backup tight end to sit for the rest of the preseason. Goedert is entering his second season with the team after flashing upside as a rookie in 2018.

The Eagles drafted Goedert in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft in hopes to create a dynamic duo at tight end with him and Zach Ertz. This season, Philadelphia is expected to utilize the second-year tight end more in the offense.

Teams in the NFL are beginning a trend of sitting key players throughout the season.

Doug Pederson and the Eagles are continuing that trend by sitting some of their important contributors for the rest of the preseason.
