One the same day the Philadelphia Eagles released one linebacker in Mychal Kendricks, they also lost another one to injury. Veteran Paul Worrilow suffered a torn ACL during Tuesday’s OTAs and is done for the season, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Worrilow reportedly suffered the injury after colliding with teammate Corey Nelson during practice. He was carted off after having an air cast put on his right leg.

It was a tough break for Worrilow, who just signed for the Eagles in April after spending last season with the Detroit Lions. He had 30 total tackles in 13 games (eight starts) for Detroit. He spent his first four years in the league with the Atlanta Falcons, where he had 383 tackles in 59 games (44 starts). But after being a regular starter in his first three years, Worrilow has been reduced to more of a rotational player in recent seasons.

Even with Worrilow’s loss coupled with Kendricks’ release, the Eagles still have options to turn to at linebacker. Jordan Hicks is set to return after rupturing his Achilles last season. Nigel Bradham, Corey Nelson, Joe Walker, Nathan Gerry and Kamu Grugier-Hill are also on hand to take up snaps.

Nevertheless, losing two linebackers in a day is never ideal. The Eagles will likely explore their options for a potential replacement in the free agent market as they look to add a bit more depth at the position. But in the big picture, Worrilow’s absence shouldn’t impact the Eagles’ bid for back-to-back titles too significantly.
