Eagles’ Malcolm Jenkins reacts to Jay-Z’s partnership with the NFL

There have been mixed reviews on Jay-Z’s new partnership with the NFL. On Monday, Philadelphia Eagles’ safety Malcolm Jenkins shared his opinion on the rapper’s new role with the league.

Last week, the NFL announced a partnership with Jay-Z’s entertainment company, Roc Nation. Included in the partnership, Jay-Z and his company will help advise musical performances for the league—including the Super Bowl.

Aside from the entertainment, Jay-Z, born Shawn Carter, also formed a partnership with the NFL on social justice. As a result, Carter will play a vital role in the league’s recently established “Inspire Change” initiative. The initiative was created to make an advancement to address social and racial justice within the league.

Shortly after the partnership was announced, though, there was some backlash for the rapper’s involvement with the league. The backlash came from players who supported Colin Kaepernick and for which the former NFL quarterback protested.

On the other side of things, Jenkins seems to be in support of Jay-Z joining the NFL ranks and what he can bring to the table. The veteran safety believes that the established businessman can help the players have a voice in the fight for social and racial justice in the world.

Along with his partnership with the NFL, the established rapper and entrepreneur also shared his interest in owning an NFL team. However, with Jay-Z’s net worth coming in at $1 billion, he would need to become a minority owner at first.

Regardless, Jay-Z seems interested in dipping his feet in the football industry. Whether or not he makes a positive difference in the NFL remains to be seen.
