When Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Mike Wallace broke his fibula in Week 2 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the thought was he was done for the season, but the speedster is still holding out hope that he will be able to return this season.

“I think I’m doing really, really well. I’m running and stuff,” said Wallace via the Philly Daily News. “Get that strength back, that muscle memory back.”

Wallace was signed to be the deep threat speedy wide receiver and it's something the team has really missed. The Eagles still have one IR eligible to return spot to use and it seems like that will probably go to Wallace.

Wallace was examined by the surgeon and was told he was right on schedule, although he doesn't know exactly what that schedule is.

“I'm on schedule. I don't know what the schedule is, but I'm doing well. I'm getting stronger every day, running more. Obviously I'm not where I want to be yet, but every single week I make big jumps. Every single week they give me a task, and for the most part I complete them, jumping those hurdles every single time, and there have been no setbacks or anything like that. It's just about rehabbing and getting back from my broken ankle.”

Wallace said it was a 12-week injury and it's almost been 12 weeks. Even if he is healthy right now, he's not quite ready to play football yet stating he needs to work on getting in and out of cuts and he isn't quite “myself” on the field just yet. Even if he needs to work on the cuts, one thing he knows he hasn't lost, is his speed.

“I can run pretty fast. I can beat all of y’all, that’s for sure,” he said.
