The Philadelphia Eagles earned a big win over the New York Giants on Sunday. Not only did they defeat a divisional rival, but they increased their chances of making the playoffs. It was an all-around great performance. However, the team fears the worst for Miles Sanders after he left Sunday with a hand injury.
According to Ian Rapoport, Miles Sanders suffered a broken bone in his hand. At first, the timetable for recovery was uncertain, as the Eagles gave Sanders additional tests. They were hopeful his hand injury wasn't serious, as Philadelphia needs him for their playoff run.
#Eagles RB Miles Sanders broke a bone in his hand yesterday, sources say, and he’ll have an MRI and additional tests today to determine if there is other damage and whether or not he can play through it. Sanders left the stadium in a soft cast.

It's not the worst injury in the world. However, the timing of it could spell danger for the Eagles' chances in the playoffs. Sanders has been as good as they come this year. Even so, he's struggled with injuries so far throughout his career. The organization is hoping the MRI reveals the injury to be less serious, as Philadelphia needs Sanders for their potential playoff run.
According to Josina Anderson, Miles Sanders will be ruled out for Week 17. However, the Eagles are not putting him on IR, as they are hopeful he will return.
#Eagles coach Nick Sirianni says RB Miles Sanders broke has hand. He's out this week. Team hopeful he can return. Not going on IR.

With two games left in the season, the Eagles have yet to lock up a playoff spot. The Dallas Cowboys clinched the NFC East, so the best Philadelphia can do is make the postseason as a wild card. For now, this franchise holds its own fate, as they currently hold the seventh seed in the NFC.
The Eagles just need to continue winning and they'll surely make the postseason. This is a crucial moment for Philadelphia, as making the playoffs would be an incredible resurgence from their struggles last year. Jalen Hurts seems to be the real deal, but it's been the rushing attack that has made this team competitive.
Look for Sanders to possibly miss the final two games as the Eagles attempt to clinch without him. If they do, then we could see him lining up in the backfield in January. For now, it looks like Boston Scott and Kenneth Gainwell will serve as the main running back options for Philadelphia.
