Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles has experienced some issues with his health over the last week, missing some practice time due to muscle spasms in his neck.

However, it appears he has moved past those injuries over the last few days, putting him in line to take the field against the New England Patriots on Thursday night in the first matchup between the two teams (albeit preseason) since Super Bowl 52, according to Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk.

Nick Foles missed some practice time with spasms in his trapezius/neck area and did not play in last week’s preseason opener, but head coach Doug Pederson said on Tuesday that Foles will get some action this time around.

This will be the first time Foles has taken the field for a game since his impressive MVP performance in Super Bowl 52. He has a chance to get his feet under him ahead of the 2018 season where he will once again be the primary backup to Carson Wentz. At this current juncture, there is no certainty that Wentz will be playing Week 1, which has only placed a greater sense of importance on figuring out where Foles is at in his recovery.

The Eagles are more than confident that the 30-year-old can lead the charge under center if need be for any length of time given what he showed in the playoffs this past season. Foles has a strong understanding of the playbook and chemistry with his teammates that should help him find success on the field.

More than anything else, it is an encouraging sign for the Eagles that he can get back on the field after dealing with the nagging neck injury.
