It has been just over a month since quarterback Nick Foles helped lead the Philadelphia Eagles to their first Super Bowl win in franchise history. Since then, there has been some mystery to his future with the team with constant talk about possible trade rumors surrounding him.

Foles is in an intriguing situation as he is set to enter the second year of his two-year, $11 million deal with the Eagles. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the 29-year-old is now in line to receive his $3 million for the 2018 campaign on Sunday, which marks the fifth day of the new league year.

This has become to be expected given that Foles has not received a new deal from Philadelphia just yet. It had been in his contract since he elected to rejoin the team last offseason. There was certainly no talk about his deal being adjusted due to that roster bonus now taking effect.

Foles performed above the level that was expected of him stepping in as the starter after Carson Wentz suffered an ACL and LCL tear late in the regular season. He stepped it up in the playoffs performing like an elite quarterback throwing for 971 yards on 72.6 percent completion rate with six touchdown passes and an interception while holding a 115.7 passer rating. He also recorded more than 240 passing yards and hold a passer rating above 100 in each contest.

At this point, there is no clarity as to what the Eagles plan to do with his contract situation but for the time being, he will at least be under contract for the 2018 season after receiving a much-deserved roster bonus.
