Green Bay Packers legend and Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre clarified some comments he recently made about Philadelphia Eagles gunslinger Carson Wentz.

Favre suggested last week the Eagles might have made a mistake keeping Wentz over Nick Foles, who guided Philly to a Super Bowl during the 2017 season with Wentz sidelined due to injury.

The three-time NFL MVP attempted to clear the air Tuesday on SiriusXM NFL Radio, saying he wonders whether the struggling Eagles quarterback is just forcing things:

“Maybe he’s pressing,” Favre said, via Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk. “There’s certainly reasons that we’re not privy to, because we’re not in their meetings, we’re not in their day-to-day operations. I look at it from when I evaluate a quarterback, you know, there’s those that when everything is going well you want them in the lineup. They’re not going to hurt you. But then when the chips are down, you need a play, it’s all or nothing, we’re behind, or all of our receivers hurt, we’ve got a Band-Aid group of guys that, when that guy can elevate those players, you know, take Aaron Rodgers – and of course he’s in a different stratosphere — but it doesn’t matter who plays receiver for them. He makes it look so easy. That’s what you’re looking for.”

Things have not been easy for Wentz and the Eagles this season. The former No. 2 overall pick is completing just over 58 percent of his passes, and he also has 12 interceptions against 12 touchdowns.

However, Wentz has had to navigate a season during which both the offensive line and receiving corps have sustained significant hits in terms of injuries.

As for Foles, the former Super Bowl MVP has really struggled as the starter for the Chicago Bears, seemingly making Favre's comments moot.

In any case, Favre seems to believe Wentz's talent is there, though perhaps he still feels the 27-year-old Eagles quarterback lacks the “it” factor, so to speak.
