The Philadelphia Eagles somehow remain atop the NFC East coming off their first win of the 2020 NFL season. It appears some help could soon be on the way to help them maintain it. The Eagles have have activated the 21-day practice window for defensive end Vinny Curry and cornerback Craig James following their stay on Injured Reserve, per Chris McPherson of the team's official website:

The Eagles announced on Wednesday that they have activated the 21-day practice window for defensive end Vinny Curry and cornerback Craig James, who were placed on Injured Reserve following the season opener against Washington.

Among the notable changes the NFL made this season was expanding practice squads in order to allow teams some flexibility amid the circumstances of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. They also reduced the time that a player must spend on IR by allowing them to be eligible after three weeks.

The Eagles managed to clear a spot on the active roster by waiving running back Adrian Killins and keeping him on the practice squad. They will have the option of activating either Curry and James before the 21-day window ends.

Vinny Curry started the season opener in place of injured defensive end Derek Barnett and registered two tackles and a half-sack. His looming return should help provide some quality depth for this improving group in the coming weeks.

However, the Eagles may have bigger need of Craig James at the moment given their recent depth issues at cornerback. The injury to special teamer Rudy Ford only helps to solidify the notion that this group needs its team captain back.
