The Philadelphia Eagles used their bye week to not only recover from the grueling 9 games played so far but also to lock up one of the league's best offensive linemen. It was announced on Monday afternoon that the Eagles and guard Brandon Brooks have agreed to a four-year extension to keep him in Philadelphia for the foreseeable future.

The Eagles obviously see Brooks as a staple in keeping their star quarterback Carson Wentz upright and healthy. The newly inked contract also puts Brooks in a world of his own at the guard position. According to Ian Rapoport, Brooks' $54.2 million contract makes him the highest-paid guard in the league.

With Carson Wentz finally, healthy heading into the league's second half, signing Brooks is also an insurance policy in making sure that the $107.9 million in guaranteed money they gave to Wentz stays on the field.

Dallas' loss to the Vikings on Sunday night football worked out perfectly for the Eagles as they remain in the hunt for the NFC East crown. The Eagles have recently been a dangerous team in the second half of the season, shown by the championship ring on they carry on their finger, but having Wentz leading the team is new.

The injury to DeSean Jackson will hurt a team that has been looking to get their deep ball threat back this season, but Philadelphia has proven that when winter is looming they only get better. With Brooks now locked up and the team ready to take on the Patriots this week, it is make it or break it time in Philly.
