At the end of the 2019 season, Doug Pederson exclaimed Mike Groh would return as the Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator in 2020 only for him to be fired a few days later. Instead of hiring a replacement, Philadelphia confirms their plan to have an offensive coordinator next season, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Even though the team didn't officially hire an offensive coordinator, there will be multiple coaches helping with the offense—including Pederson. Among the new assistants, Rich Scangarello figures to have a decent-sized role with the offense.

This season, Scangarello was the offensive coordinator of the Denver Broncos. Considering the circumstances in Denver, Scangarello did a formidable job in his lone season with the Broncos.

However, Denver chose to move on from Scangarello as the team's offensive coordinator in favor of Pat Shurmur. As for Scangarello, he'll hold the title of the senior offensive assistant with the Eagles in 2020.

Besides Scangarello, the Eagles also promoted Press Taylor to be their passing-game coordinator. Along with being the passing-game coordinator, Taylor will maintain his role as the team's quarterbacks coach.

Taylor has been with Philadelphia since 2013 when he became the offensive quality control coach. Then, in 2018, he would be promoted to quarterbacks coach for the Eagles.

With Taylor having prior experience with the offense, he'll likely be involved in the offensive game planning. In addition, it is beneficial that Taylor has worked with Carson Wentz for the past four years.

The Eagles undoubtedly had their fair share of issues on offense in 2019. In an attempt to fix the problems, Philadelphia has chosen to avoid hiring an offensive coordinator. It remains to be seen if this plan will pay dividends in the long-term.
