Count quarterback Christian Hackenberg as among the numerous players who are suddenly out of job in the NFL. According to Matt Lombardo of NJ Advance Media, the Philadelphia Eagles have released Hackenberg, who now finds himself on the waiver wire.

Hackenberg isn’t the only quarterback casualty in Philly, as Tom Pelissero the NFL Network has also reported that Joe Callahan will be joining the former Penn State QB in another job hunt.

It has been an extremely disappointing pro football career so far for Christian Hackenberg. He entered the NFL in 2016 as a second-round pick by the New York Jets, who signed him to a four-year. Last May, the Jets traded him to the Oakland Raiders for a seventh-round pick next year. Three weeks later, the Raiders gave up op Hackenberg and waived the quarterback.

It took two months before an NFL team scooped Hackenberg up from the free agent market, with the Eagles signing him to a contract earlier this month. Apparently, that didn’t pan either for Hackenberg, who may not be able to find his way back into a regular NFL roster.

He was horrible in his only appearance in this year’s preseason against his former team on Thursday, as he completed just 7-of 16 passes for 69 yards without a touchdown and with two interceptions in a 10-9 loss to the Jets.

Hackenberg has never appeared in a single snap in an NFL  game outside of the preseason.

As for the Eagles, it looks like they’re sticking to a three-man quarterback depth composed of Carson Wentz, Nick Foles, and Nate Sudfield.
