Fans of the Philadelphia Eagles have a reason to be thankful for Carson Wentz again. The former face of the franchise was traded after a miserably bad season but has rebounded with the Indianapolis Colts, which is actually a good thing for Philly.

Wentz's solid season with the Colts offers a rare instance for fans to root for the franchise player that got traded away after disappointing them. One interesting clause in the trade stated that if Wentz played at least 75% of the available snaps this season, Indianapolis would turn the 2022 second-round pick they traded to Philadelphia into a first-rounder.

Tonight against the New England Patriots, Wentz played enough snaps for the pick to convey.

With Wentz, the Colts are 7-6 and in the hunt for the AFC South title. The unbelievable season from Jonathan Taylor has mostly propelled the Colts' offense but Wentz has played at a respectable level. Through the first 13 games of this season, he has thrown for 2, 948 yards and 22 touchdowns while tossing just five interceptions.

The Eagles have fared better without Wentz. They are 6-7 with second-year quarterback Jalen Hurts, who is leading the offense to an increase of five points per game so far compared to last year. Last year, Wentz played in 12 games and Philly won just three of them.

Philadelphia's haul from the Wentz trade is now officially a 2022 first-round pick and the 84th overall pick in last year's draft, which they used to trade up for DeVonta Smith.
