The Philadelphia Eagles' passing attack was always bound to improve this season.

Not only was Carson Wentz, en route to MVP honors in 2017 before suffering a season-ending injury, poised to reclaim his status as one of the league's best quarterbacks, but DeSean Jackson was brought back in free agency to add another element to the Eagles' offense. Now that J.J. Arcega-Whiteside seems likely to play a major role as a rookie, though, it's clear Philadelphia could be even better on that side of the ball than anticipated.

Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports reported on Wednesday that while the Eagles are absolutely loaded with pass-catching options, they're “particularly excited” about Arcega-Whiteside.

“The receiving options are pretty sick for the Eagles, but they‘re particularly excited about some of what they’re seeing from rookie JJ Arcega-Whiteside. The skill from his tape at Stanford is translating really well. Despite the veteran wealth at WR, he could factor in 2019.”

The Eagles selected Arcega-Whiteside with the No. 57 overall pick of the NFL Draft. He emerged as an impact player at Stanford his sophomore year, and last season established himself as arguably the top red-zone threat in college football, finishing with 63 catches for 1,059 yards and 14 touchdowns. At 6-foot-2, 225 pounds, Arcega-Whiteside has the size and strength to give Philadelphia another physical target in the receiving game.

With Jackson, Alshon Jeffery, Zach Ertz, and Nelson Agholor, the Eagles already had one of the most talented, versatile groups of pass-catchers in football. If Arcega-Whiteside lives up to the training camp hype during the regular season, they'll be far more dangerous – a scary thought for the rest of the NFC.
