The Philadelphia Eagles are preparing to host the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC Wild Card round. It seems they are still holding out hope for two of their more integral players on the offensive side of the ball.

Both running back Miles Sanders and tight end Zach Ertz are dealing with injuries heading into the playoffs. Head coach Doug Pederson is optimistic that Sanders will be able to play, via Nick Shook of NFL.com:

“He'll get some work in today and see where he's at, but he's been feeling good.”

Pederson added that the team is still hopeful that Ertz will be active.

“Zach — waiting on — he's still not cleared for any contact,” Pederson said. “He'll work a little bit on the side again like he's done this week and stuff like that. We're waiting on a few doctor results tomorrow and if things go favorable, he'll play. If they don't, he won't.”

Although the Eagles' update on Sanders is undoubtedly an encouraging one, it seems Ertz's status is still up in the air. Meanwhile, right tackle Lane Johnson is also trying to work his way back from an ankle injury that has kept him sidelined since Week 14. The prospect of not having either one of these crucial starters would undoubtedly deal a crushing blow to an Eagles offense that is already shorthanded.

Sanders suffered an ankle injury in the season finale against the New York Giants. His participation in practice suggests that he is on track to get back on the field. Ertz has been a limited participant since sitting out against the Giants with back and rib injuries.
