The Philadelphia Eagles are one of the few remaining teams in the NFL that have yet to hire an offensive coordinator. On Friday, Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer reported that the Eagles interviewed USC's Graham Harrell for their vacant offensive coordinator position.

The Eagles somehow made the playoffs despite all of their injuries but were quickly eliminated by the Seattle Seahawks. In the team's end-of-season press conference, Doug Pederson stated that offensive coordinator Mike Groh and wide receivers coach Carson Walch would return in 2020.

But just a couple of days later, Philadelphia reversed course and fired both Groh and Walch. As a result, the Eagles are now in need of new offensive assistants for Pederson's staff. Among the assistants, they will interview, Harrell is an intriguing option.

Harrell is a former NFL quarterback who began his coaching career with Oklahoma State as a quarterbacks coach in 2009. Before playing in the NFL, Harrell played collegiately at Texas Tech under Mike Leach.

Of course, Leach is known for his electric “Air Raid” offense that involves throwing the ball often. Both Harrell and Leach would reunite at Washington State when Leach hired Harrell as his wide receivers coach in 2014.

Following his time at Washington State, Harrell took the offensive coordinator job at North Texas. The former backup quarterback for the Green Bay Packers would spend three years at North Texas prior to landing at USC.

At USC, Harrell served as the team's offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. The Eagles undoubtedly need an offensive coordinator who can work with Carson Wentz. Given that, it would make sense to hire someone who has a modern offensive system and has also played the quarterback position at a professional level.
