The Philadelphia Eagles are acquiring a bunch of players to improve the team's defense. Haasan Reddick, formerly a linebacker for the Carolina Panthers, penned a deal with the Birds earlier this month. The Eagles also re-signed defensive end Derek Barnett and defensive tackle Fletcher Cox.
Most recently, Philadelphia acquired linebacker Kyzir White, a free agent from the Los Angeles Chargers.
The team tweeted the latest acquisition Saturday afternoon.
According to Eagles insider Dave Spadaro, White is on track to have his best season yet, which is why the team was interested in him this offseason.
The Chargers selected White in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He spent his first four seasons in Los Angeles and will begin his fifth year in the league with the Eagles.
This past season, White recorded 144 tackles: 90 solo, 54 assisted, and seven for loss. He also had one sack, three pass deflections, and forced two fumbles for the Chargers.
The outside linebacker will likely play alongside the newly acquired Haasan Reddick, as well as veteran linemen Fletcher Cox and Brandon Graham.
Heading into the 2022 NFL Draft with three first-round picks, the Eagles are in great shape. Most expected the team to pick up a veteran wide receiver in free agency and draft linemen, but they seem to be doing the opposite. Only time will tell if the Birds continue to focus on strengthening their defense, or if the first-round picks go towards building up an offensive air game.
