DeSean Jackson's reunion season with the Philadelphia Eagles has not gone as planned.

On Tuesday, the Eagles placed the wide receiver on the injured reserve list, per Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk. The news comes one day after it was revealed that he would have to undergo core muscle surgery.

Jackson initially suffered a groin/abdominal injury during is team's Week 2 loss to the Atlanta Falcons and left the game. At first, the injury was not thought to be too severe, but he ended up being sidelined through Week 8.

He tried to return during the Eagles' Week 9 tilt with the Chicago Bears, but he exited after just one series after re-aggravating the issue.

Jackson's 2019 campaign got off to a great start, as he logged eight catches for 154 yards and a couple of touchdowns in a season-opening win over the Washington Redskins, but since then, it was been a downhill slide for the veteran.

The 32-year-old spent the first six years of his career in Philadelphia, making three Pro Bowls. His best season came in 2013, when he hauled in 82 receptions for 1,332 yards and nine scores.

Jackson then made his way to the Redskins for three seasons, tallying a pair of 1,000-yard campaigns before joining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for two disappointing years. He re-joined the Eagles in free agency back in March.

The loss of Jackson is a devastating blow for a Philadelphia passing game that has been up and down throughout the year.

Philly is currently 5-4 and sits a half-game behind the Dallas Cowboys for first place in the NFC East.
