Since helping guide the Philadelphia Eagles to their first Super Bowl win, quarterback Nick Foles' future with the franchise had remained a prominent topic around the franchise. The front office has elected to keep ahold of their star quarterback throughout the offseason instead of cashing in on his skyrocketed value after his impressive performance in the playoffs.

This had seen things quiet down on that front in the sense that he'd only find himself as the starter if Carson Wentz is unable to be ready for the 2018 season opener. According to Mike Garafolo of The NFL Network, the Eagles have worked out a new revised deal Foles that has rewarded him for his performance this past season.

This new contract may not have extended his tenure with the Eagles, but it does leave the door open for him to possibly sign elsewhere next offseason. Although Foles has voiced that he is comfortable remaining in a backup role to Wentz, he has stated that he would be interested in becoming a starter once again.

Foles had proved in the playoffs earlier this year that he could be a viable starter if given the opportunity in the right situation. In three postseason games, he threw for 971 yards on a 72.6 percent completion rate with six touchdown passes and an interception while holding a 115.7 passer rating.

He also recorded more than 240 passing yards and held a passer rating above 100 in each contest. All of this was highlighted by his stellar performance in the Super Bowl, where he completed 28 of 43 passes for 373 yards and three touchdowns that earned him the Super Bowl MVP award.

This was a long overdue gesture by the Eagles that both leave the door open for Foles to potentially be a starter elsewhere while also showing their great amount of appreciation for what he helped the franchise accomplish.
