The Philadelphia Eagles have used the offseason to steadily added more talent to the roster following their first Super Bowl win in franchise history. The front office is set to help through the draft with promising talent to fill some needs along the roster.

One of the positions the Eagles may look to address is at running back with the departure of LeGarrette Blount via free agency on a one-year, $2 million deal with the Detroit Lions. According to Jon Ledyard of FanRag Sports, Philadelphia met with former LSU's Derrius Guice on Thursday night.

Guice is regarded as being one of the top running back in this year’s draft that could be a first-round selection. He has shown to have an explosive running style with the strength to be a bruising runner at the next level that has received some comparison to Oakland Raiders former Pro Bowl running back Marshawn Lynch.

The 20-year-old could step in the role that Blount has left as a goal-line option while offsetting Jay Ayaji as the combination in the backfield. Guice has been sparsely used as a receiving option out of the backfield, which could remain the case with the Eagles where Corey Clement and Wendell Smallwood should pick up the slack in that regard.

Last season, the Eagles ranked third in rushing with 132.2 yards per contest while being tied for third in the league with 4.5 yards per carry. The addition of Guice would also provide the team with a potential long-term solution at the position if the team decides to move on from Ayaji after the 2018 season as he's entering the final year of his four-year, $2.5 million rookie deal.

He could look to garner a lucrative contract that the Eagles may be willing to pass on having to unload if Guice were to prove he can be an effective option in the NFL. Nonetheless, this interest shows that the team is looking to add more firepower to their running game through the draft.
