The Philadelphia Eagles are rewarding one of their own. On Wednesday, Philly signed kicker Jake Elliott to a five-year, $21.8 million extension, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. He will get $10.5 million guaranteed and is now the third-highest paid kicker in the NFL in terms of per year salary and total guarantees.

Elliott certainly has something to be thankful for a day before Thanksgiving day (pumpkin pie is on him).

One of the NFL's best, Elliott, 24, is deserving of the contract extension. According to Field Yates of ESPN, he has made 17 consecutive field goals, the highest active mark in the NFL.

Elliott's response to agreeing on the deal, via the team's official website:

It's awesome, man. This is the place where I've grown the last couple of years and luckily I'm a part of it and I look forward to being a part of it for a really long time. It's a great feeling.”

On the year, Elliott has not missed one of his 14 field goal attempts, including one over 50 yards. He is 21 of 23 on extra points. On his career, he is 66 of 76 on field goals, good for 86.8%. He is 93 of 100 for extra points.

“At that position in this league, where points are at a premium, it's a great feeling to know that when you cross the (opponent's) 35-yard line you are in Jake's range and he's going to be accurate and put points on the board,” head coach Doug Pederson said on Wednesday. “We're blessed and fortunate to have Jake.”

With Elliott on-board, the Eagles have their placekicking locked down for the foreseeable future — a luxury many teams do not boast.
