With DeSean Jackson sidelined for the season as a result of core muscle surgery and Alshon Jeffery in and out of the lineup due to various injury issues, the Philadelphia Eagles have really needed heavy production from wide receiver Nelson Agholor this year.

The problem is, they haven't gotten it.

In a game where both Jackson and Jeffery were absent this past weekend, Agholor logged just four catches for 40 yards. He has not scored a touchdown since Week 3, and on the season overall, he has totaled 36 grabs for 322 yards and three scores.

That wouldn't be terrible if Agholor were the No. 3 receiver like most expected, but given the Eagles' current circumstances, that has not been the case.

Still, Philly believes in Agholor going forward:

“I would say that’s probably not fair,” said Eagles offensive coordinator Mike Groh when asked if Agholor has taken a step back in 2019, according to Zack Rosenblatt of NJ Advance Media. “I would say that over the last two years he’s had to wear a lot of different hats in our offense due to the attrition at the position. One of his strengths is his mental flexibility and his ability to learn. He knows the entire system as well as anybody, so he’s able to handle a lot from that standpoint, but the flip side of that coin is then he gets moved around.”

Last year, Agholor caught 64 passes for 736 yards and four touchdowns, and in 2017, he hauled in 62 receptions for 768 yards while reaching the end zone eight times.

So, obviously, based on his skimpy production through 10 games this season, one can make the assumption that the 26-year-old has regressed, but the Eagles are holding out hope for their wide out.
