Philadephia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles is set to hit the market as a free agent after the team chose not to place the franchise tag on him. As a result, the search for their new backup has begun.

The Eagles have expressed confidence in quarterback Nate Sudfeld's potential as a backup. However, according to Mike Kaye of NJ Advance Media, they will look to add another veteran to compete under center.

The team will pursue veteran quarterbacks in free agency later this month, a person with knowledge of the situation told NJ Advance Media.

The prospect of the Eagles bringing in another veteran quarterback is certainly not too far-fetched. Although they have gushed about Sudfeld's ability to be the backup, they will still add as much quality depth as they can.

Philadelphia knows full well that their backup quarterback will be one of the most crucial players on their roster considering quarterback Carson Wentz has had some trouble finishing out a full season thus far in his career.

Fortunately, there are a number of intriguing options for them to pursue. Among the most notable quarterbacks set to hit the market are Teddy Bridgewater, Tyrod Taylor, and Josh McCown. It is safe to say that these are all starting-caliber quarterbacks, which means they could prove to be the most costly.

Considering the other voids on the roster the Eagles must fill, they may need to look for more reasonable options such as quarterbacks Ryan Fitzpatrick or Trevor Siemian. Regardless, it will be interesting to see which route they go in this offseason.
