Dallas Cowboys team owner Jerry Jones was not shy about expressing his dismay over the Philadelphia Eagles' win in Super Bowl LII. It appears he is not the only one in the NFC East that feels this way with a New York Giants star expressing the same sentiment.

It is no secret that quarterback Eli Manning endured a rough 2017 campaign. However, he said during an appearance on The Simms and Lefkoe podcast that watching the Eagles win it all capped an already disastrous year.

“Yeah, it makes for a long offseason, especially when you see a couple of Eagles fans walking around,” Manning said. “It's hard to say congratulations. You understand what they're going through a little bit, with us having won a couple, and it definitely makes you want to get back in that position with the permanent smile on your face for the whole six-month offseason. Now we're kind of erasing last year and getting ready for next year.”

Manning's comments should certainly come as no surprise. He and the Giants have long been the bane of the rest of their division after winning two championships within a span of five years nearly a decade ago. However, it is clear that the balance of power has shifted toward the Eagles.

To make matters worse, they even did it spectacularly much like the Giants did. While New York was in the midst of one of its worst seasons in recent history, Philadelphia was defying the odds en route to their first Super Bowl in franchise history. They even managed to pull off an unlikely victory over the New England Patriots just like the Giants.  That said, there are plenty of reasons for Manning to be a bit disgruntled.

Fortunately, the veteran has been granted a fresh start with his new coaching staff. It appears knocking off the defending champs will be on the to-do list for New York's potential bounce-back year.
