Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Desean Jackson made headlines with the posting of his anti-Semitic post on Instagram. Shortly after, he received backlash as it stirred confusion among his many followers on the social media platform as to why he was posting it.

The Philadelphia Eagles organization posted their official statement regarding the matter on Twitter:

The Instagram story was remembered to be an extended quote from a book purportedly taken from Adolf Hitler:

“The Jews will blackmail America. [They] will extort America, their plan for world domination won’t work if the Negroes know who they were.”

The Eagles wide receiver was also known to be a listener to Minister Louis Farrakhan, the controversial leader of the Nation of Islam. Watchdog groups have routinely dubbed him as an anti-semitic and homophobic. The leader also first came under fire for anti-semitism in the mid-1980s.

The post came as a surprise to many as they knew Jackson as an outspoken person who uses his platform to fight for social reform. He has always been vocal about his thoughts regarding societal issues, especially in the midst of the Black Lives Matter movement.

Jackson even delivered a powerful speech to his Eagles' teammates after the news of George Floyd's death broke out. This issue cannot have a worse timing as the American society is currently eradicating racism issues and fighting for equality.

Jackson has already taken down the original Instagram story from his account. The team has yet to speak out on their impending disciplinary action for the wide receiver's controversial post.
