Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni crowned Jason Kelce the toughest guy he has ever been around on Wednesday. “Not only do I think he's one of the best offensive linemen I've ever been around… I also think he's the toughest guy I've ever been around,” Sirianni said while boasting about the veteran center.

The first year coach began his prideful speech after explaining how much he appreciates Kelce's dedication to the team. Even after suffering a knee injury in Week 12 against the Giants, Kelce persevered and go back on the field. He has played in 154 games for the Eagles since being drafted in 2011.

But what does toughness mean? Kelce explained that his perception of toughness has changed since he entered the NFL.

“The conventional mold of it (toughness) is this macho, very physically dominating, sometimes angry, type of fellow.” Kelce explained that this was his original idea of toughness. However, his perspective changed. “The more I've played football…you really realize toughness is the guys that can come and do the same thing over and over and over again.”

Kelce emphasized the importance of consistency and dedication to one's team as a major part of being a tough player in the NFL. He also said that he has experienced so many tough players first hand through his time in both college and professional football. In Kelce's eyes, a player who comes to work every day “to be better, to service their teammates” is tough.
