The Philadelphia Eagles will be looking to defend their title in the 2018 NFL season. Fortunately, they boast one of the most talented defensive units in the league to help them.

At least, that is how cornerback Rasul Douglas feels. Douglas said during an appearance on SiriusXM NFL Radio that the Eagles not only have the best secondary in the league but the best defense as well:

“We have the best secondary in the league. How we compete every game & how we make plays..there's nothing like it in the league. I think we are the best defense & secondary in the NFL.”

Douglas' comments may seem a bit bold. However, it comes with the territory of being a reigning Super Bowl champ. Aside from that, he still makes a rather compelling case.

Douglas is joined by a slew of talent in the secondary players like cornerbacks Jalen Mills and Ronald Darby, not to mention the safety tandem of Malcolm Jenkins and Rodney McLeod over the top. Meanwhile, Douglas certainly did his part as a rookie during their championship run after registering 23 tackles, two interceptions, and 11 pass defenses.

Aside from their secondary, Philadelphia also welcomes back its elite defensive line headed by Fletcher Cox, Brandon Graham, and Derek Barnett. The Eagles have managed to fortify this unit with the arrival of defensive end Michael Bennett and defensive tackle Haloti Ngata.

That said, there is no shortage of talent on the Eagles defense, and one would be hard-pressed to find a deeper unit in the league. However, they will still need to find a way to put it all together if they are going to maximize this talent as they did last year.
