Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Ronald Darby played in just nine games this past season before tearing his ACL, but he re-signed with the Eagles on a one-year deal last week and expects to be ready for Week 1 in 2019, according to Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Darby said that the fact that he also dislocated his ankle in 2017 in addition to the knee injury this past season limited what he could have earned in free agency, which was why he chose to re-sign in Philadelphia on a one-year contract.

During the time that Darby was on the field in 2018, he registered 43 tackles, an interception and 12 passes defended.

The 25-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Florida State University, was originally selected by the Buffalo Bills in the second round (50th pick overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft.

He appeared in 15 contests during his rookie campaign, totaling 68 tackles, a couple of picks and 21 passes defended. Then, the following year, Darby participated in 14 games and finished with 69 tackles and 12 passes defended.

The Oxon Hill, Md. native was then traded from the Bills to the Eagles for wide receiver Jordan Matthews during the summer of 2017.
