The Philadelphia Eagles made a concerted effort to address their secondary this offseason, adding multiple cornerbacks in free agency. While the Eagles made some moves at his position, Sidney Jones is making a promise about his future in Philadelphia. In speaking to John Clark of NBC Sports Philadelphia Jones said,

“There’s a whole lot left. That’s all I can tell you. You haven’t seen nothing yet …

“Adversity builds character … I feel like I have weathered the storm. I am ready to show what I can do and prove it”

Back in the 2017 NFL Draft, the Eagles selected Jones with the No. 43 pick out of Washington. When they took Jones, they expected him to develop into a formidable cornerback in the NFL. However, upon reaching the NFL, Jones was coming off of a leg injury he sustained during his Pro Day.

Since joining the Eagles, Jones has definitely had durability issues, managing to start in just eight games in his three seasons. Furthermore, the former second-round pick has missed 26 games already in his career.

Nevertheless, near the end of the 2019 season, Jones pointed out that he felt like he was finally healthy. Last season, Jones finished with 23 tackles, eight pass breakups, and two interceptions.

So far this offseason, the Eagles have made a trade for Darius Slay and signed Nickell Robey-Coleman in free agency. In addition, they re-signed Jalen Mills with the intention of moving him to safety to replace Malcolm Jenkins. Regardless of the moves that Philadelphia has made, Jones believes he can contribute to the team in 2020.
