Free-agent defensive lineman Vinny Curry signed with the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday, marking the beginning of his second stint with the club after spending one year away.

Curry, who won a Super Bowl with the Eagles in the 2017-18 campaign, is happy to come back:

“Definitely had a couple different offers on the table, but home is home,” Curry said, according to Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia. “This just felt right. This felt like the right situation. I think it was just time for me to be back in Philadelphia.”

The 30-year-old spent this past season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, playing in 12 games and registering 21 tackles and 2.5 sacks.

Curry, who played collegiate football at Marshall University, was originally selected by the Eagles in the second round (59th pick) of the 2012 NFL Draft.

He appeared in just six contests during his rookie campaign due to injury, finishing with nine tackles. He then participated in 14 games the following season, totaling 23 tackles and four sacks.

The Neptune, N.J. native then had a breakout year in 2014, racking up 19 tackles, nine sacks, four forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery in what was his most productive NFL season to date.

Since then, Curry has struggled to make a significant impact, leading Philadelphia to release him last offseason. He then signed a three-year deal with the Buccaneers, only to see Tampa Bay part with him after one season.

Curry also generated interest from the New York Giants and Cincinnati Bengals before ultimately deciding to return to the Eagles.
