In the last couple of weeks, Philadelphia Eagles have seen the emergence rookie running back Josh Adams as their most dynamic playmaker out of the backfield.

Following yet another huge outing from Adams, it has put the coaching staff to consider giving him a larger role in the offense moving forward as head coach Doug Pederson indicated as much, according to Zach Rosenblatt of NJ.com.

“It's not to discount Corey or Wendell because they do a lot of great things as well,” Pederson said at a press conference at NovaCare Complex. “It's just that Josh now is taking that lead and we continue to grow and try to increase his touches each week.”

Adams has been a pleasant surprise for the Eagles over the last few games as he has been a huge spark plug out of the backfield. He has quickly become the team's leading rusher with 291 yards on 56 attempts with a pair of touchdowns. The bulk of his work in the backfield has come in the running game as he posted a career-high 84 rushing yards on 22 carries along with a touchdown.

He has continued to showcase that he has big-play ability behind his steady level of production with more than 40 rushing yards in each of the last three games played. Adams' strong performance in an increased role this past Sunday's 25-22 win over the New York Giants as he was the driving factor in the backfield. Although it is a small sample size, he has already shown that he is a bigger factor in the running game than both Corey Clement and Wendell Smallwood.

If anything, these comments from Pederson signal that Adams will get plenty of opportunities to prove that he could potentially be their workhorse running back over the final five weeks of the regular season as the team pushes forward toward the playoffs.
